On March 20 and 21, ISTP, our partner for the training of our work-study engineers, inaugurated a new 8,500 m² building on the iconic site of the former Manufrance, Cours Fauriel in Saint-Étienne. This development further improves the learning environment for our students.

An ambitious project, a strong regional presence

Led by ISTP with the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (€1.6 million) and Saint-Étienne Métropole (€800,000), this project is fully aligned with the shared objective of training more engineers and technicians capable of addressing France’s strategic challenges: reindustrialization, energy sovereignty, decarbonization, technological innovation.

1,400 work-study engineering students are currently trained each year on this campus, in partnership with Mines Saint-Étienne. These engineers graduate from our school, a guarantee of academic and professional excellence, and join key sectors such as nuclear, mobility, energy, and defense.

An inauguration attended by key regional and industry stakeholders

This significant event brought together many figures from the academic, economic, and political spheres, including:

  • Anne Damon, Chairwoman of the ISTP Board of Directors
  • Catherine Staron, Vice-President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, responsible for Higher Education, Research, and Innovation
  • Christophe Faverjon, Vice-President of Saint-Étienne Métropole
  • Alexandre Rochatte, Prefect of Loire
  • Cyril Faure, General Director of ISTP
  • Representatives from major partner companies such as EDF, KNDS, PSIG.

Round tables, forward-looking discussions, celebration of the 30th anniversary of the first graduating class of engineers, launch of the Manufrance eco-design competition… the inauguration also provided an opportunity to reflect on future challenges.
