The new ISMIN 2018 graduates, surrounded by their class sponsor Corinne Versini, experienced a wonderful ceremony on December 1 at the Georges Charpak Provence Campus. The new graduates received warm congratulations, best wishes for success, and messages conveying values, commitment, and ambition for equality.
The ceremony was opened by Pascal Ray, Director of Mines Saint-Étienne, Roger Meï, Mayor of Gardanne, and Claudine Die, deputy to Member of Parliament François-Michel Lambert.
Philippe Lalevée, Director of the GC Provence Campus and Director of the Centre of Microelectronics in Provence, Xavier Olagne, Director of Academic Programmes, together with the Academic Affairs team and the programme heads, each took the floor in turn to congratulate the class and highlight the strengths of the engineering programme.
Corinne Versini, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Genes’Ink, used the time for discussion to reiterate her convictions about innovation, ethics, and the essential need for gender parity within the company.
“Ethics is a work constraint, but above all an opportunity and a major challenge for tomorrow’s engineer. An engineer without ethics will find it difficult to find their place in tomorrow’s world.
Their responsibility is also to understand the market around us, know their target audience, and understand their target audience’s culture.”
We are living through an exciting, but also uncertain and dangerous, period that should prompt engineers to question the world of tomorrow.”
Serge Vigier, President of ALUMNI Mines Saint-Étienne, and Massinissa Ait Gherbi, ALUMNI delegate for the Gardanne campus, highlighted the importance of the alumni network and the benefits of bringing the ICM and ISMIN associations closer together.
The class representatives, Guillaume-Alexandre Chaizy-Gostovitch, Arthur Lavice and Nabil Lila, finally recalled the highlights and these three years of student life on the Gardanne Campus.
The ISMIN 2018 class includes 60 graduate engineers:
- 7 students obtained a double degree: 4 in the Minelec Master of Science in Engineering (Micro- and Nanoelectronics), 1 in the Master of Science in Engineering Advanced Methods in Industrial Engineering,
- 2 obtained a double degree from a partner institution: Georgia Tech and ETS Montréal
- More than half of the engineers are on permanent contracts; a few are on fixed-term contracts,
- 8 are continuing their studies (in particular, a CIFRE PhD).
