On November 18, Mines Saint-Étienne opened its doors to industry professionals and local authorities for a day dedicated to meetings and exchanges.

The objective of this open house was to present the School and its initiatives promoting innovation and collaboration with companies. Mines Saint-Etienne supports companies through its state-of-the-art facilities: research laboratories, technology platforms, and prototyping spaces. It also fosters work-study programs, internships, customized training, and joint research projects.

This involves a direct transfer of skills between the School, businesses, and local authorities.

After a coffee reception and a presentation of the morning’s challenges by Éric Duflot and Antoine Lavignotte, participants were able to discover the model of the EENUEE aircraft, on which the joint DISC-AER laboratory (SMS Center and EENUEE) is working. They visited the Materials and Structures Science Center with Christophe Desrayaud and François VALDIVIESO and attended a demonstration of the world’s only fusion furnace developed by the center.

Research engineers and faculty researchers from the Fayol Institute also mobilized to welcome visitors to the Transitions Platform and presented 3 pathways:

  • Industry of the Future: data, AI, digital twins, cybersecurity
  • Sustainable and Resilient Territories: data, decision-making, governance
  • Circular Economy: territorial industrial ecology, remanufacturing

The Open House for Industry and Local Authorities is an event certified by the Year of Engineering 2025-2026. We look forward to welcoming many of you next year.
