Congratulations to the new specialized engineers trained through work-study programs (continuing education and apprenticeship) and graduated on March 8 from Mines Saint-Étienne, sponsored by Pierre Veltz, engineer and sociologist. They were honored during a remarkable ceremony that brought together nearly 800 people at the Saint-Étienne convention center.

Research and development project managers, strategic project leaders, research officers, site managers…, 83% of the new graduate engineers are employed (fixed-term contracts, permanent contracts, and international volunteer positions), 40% of them remain employed in their host company and 11% are pursuing further studies. Among the new classes of employee-status graduates this year:

As a preamble to the graduation ceremony, the class sponsor, Pierre Veltz, presented a conference and debate on the theme “What engineers for an industry & society in transition?”

An engineer from École Polytechnique and École des Ponts, Pierre Veltz served as Director of École des Ponts from 1999 to 2004. He subsequently participated in the establishment of Greater Paris alongside Christian Blanc. He created and directed the public institution in charge of the major Saclay project from 2010 to 2015. A member of the Academy of Technologies, he is currently engaged in the industrial renewal of France and remains passionate about urban and territorial issues (…).
