A virtuous digital transition

New technologies are profoundly transforming how our society functions, people’s practices, and business processes. This digital transition must be integrated with the ecological transition and the need to optimise resource consumption and act responsibly. Obtaining the Responsible Digital label reflects Mines Saint-Étienne’s clear commitment to being an engineering school fully engaged in the ecological transition.

Actions undertaken

  • Switching off Wi-Fi access points every night and at weekends.
  • Responsible digital considerations have been incorporated into the specifications for the contract to redesign the School’s showcase website.
  • Policy for deleting and relocating email accounts for all School staff.
  • For the past two years, the school has actively participated in the Digital Cleanup Days and continues this initiative annually by organizing the responsible digital festival in March (conferences, workshops, digital frescoes, data cleanup operations, etc.).
  • Several actions have been carried out to recycle equipment: more than 200 phones were donated to universities, schools and local authorities; around forty network devices were donated to a secondary school; nearly 60 desktop computers were donated to non-profit organisations…
  • Training in cybersecurity and responsible digital practices for around one hundred new arrivals.
