The Energy Valorization Engineering (IVE) program is offered through an apprenticeship contract, which allows students to pursue a recognized and rigorous engineering degree with no tuition fees and with monthly compensation.

Apprenticeship represents a preferred pathway to enter a high-demand sector while building solid professional experience.

Training Fees

Apprenticeship: €0 tuition fees for the learner

All educational costs are funded by:

  • the OPCO of the host company,
  • the company itself,
  • ISTP (training provider),
  • and in some cases additional funding sources.

👉 The apprentice pays no tuition fees to Mines Saint-Étienne or ISTP.

Apprentice Compensation

Compensation depends on your age and year of training.
As a guideline (apprenticeship contract):

  • Under 18: 27% • 39% • 55% of minimum wage for 1st, 2nd, 3rd year.
  • 18 to 20 years: 43% • 51% • 67% of minimum wage for 1st, 2nd, 3rd year.
  • 21 to 25 years: 53% • 61% • 78% of minimum wage for 1st, 2nd, 3rd year.
  • 26 years and older: at least 100% of minimum wage regardless of contract year.

Some companies apply higher compensation according to their collective agreement (energy, industry, engineering, etc.), or when the minimum conventional wage (SMC) is higher than the minimum wage.

Depending on your situation, you may be eligible for:

  • APL / housing assistance (CAF)
  • Regional assistance
  • Driver’s license assistance (apprentices)
  • Reduced transportation rates
  • Mobility assistance
  • Need-based scholarships (for certain specific situations)

ISTP supports each apprentice in accessing the relevant programs.

The program is also open to working professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years of professional experience
  • Be an employee of an SME or industrial group

Schedule

  • 24 months, adjustable based on pathway
  • Work-study schedule compatible with professional activity
  • Sessions begin in June

VAE – Engineering

VAE allows you to obtain the engineering degree without completing the full program.
