25. A. Geoffre, Upscaling impregnation flows in random fibrous media – Application to infusion-based manufacturing process of composite materials, Hexcel Chair funding, co-directors Prof. J. Bruchon and Prof. N. Moulin, 2019-2022
What type of two-phase flow representation, depending on the medium size compared with the charactertistic size of the RVE : (right) homogeneous equivalent medium (Darcy) can be used with proper stochastic permeabilities (stationary and transient, potentially dependent on the Ca regime), capillary pressure and saturation (porisity map), or (left) DNS required but may be converted to Darcy’s-like (if necessary) response from pressure drop vs velocity response. (centre) too strong discontinuities in the micro-structure require DNS with no possible equivalence.
