Elle permet d\u2019acc\u00e9der \u00e0 une valeur de dilatation ou de contraction (expansion ou retrait de l\u2019\u00e9chantillon \u00e9tudi\u00e9), appel\u00e9e coefficient de dilatation thermique lin\u00e9aire, mais \u00e9galement \u00e0 des caract\u00e9ristiques de recuit ou d\u2019autres transformations physiques ou chimiques entra\u00eenant des modifications dimensionnelles.<\/p>\n<p>Le comportement dilatom\u00e9trique d\u2019une substance est li\u00e9 \u00e0 sa structure et \u00e0 sa texture. Ces variations dimensionnelles sont r\u00e9versibles et r\u00e9sultent du mouvement des atomes ou des groupes d\u2019atomes constituant le solide.
