Coupl\u00e9e \u00e0 des algorithmes d&rsquo;optimisation automatique, elle permet de d\u00e9couvrir des designs optimis\u00e9s. Le temps calcul (plusieurs \u00e0 minutes \u00e0 plusieurs jours) ne permet n\u00e9anmoins d&rsquo;effectuer qu&rsquo;un nombre limit\u00e9 de simulations. Ces restrictions rendent la recherche d&rsquo;un design optimal ardue. Des techniques d&rsquo;optimisation Bay\u00e9sienne permettent de trouver l&rsquo;optimum en un nombre restreint de simulations num\u00e9riques. N\u00e9anmoins, la difficult\u00e9 de localiser l&rsquo;optimum en utilisant le simulateur de fa\u00e7on parcimonieuse s&rsquo;accentue \u00b7et devient prohibitive lorsque le nombre de param\u00e8tres \u00e0 optimiser (la dimension de l&rsquo;espace de design) est grand. La grande dimension est en effet une difficult\u00e9 majeure de nombreux probl\u00e8mes de conception en raison de l&rsquo;augmentation exponentielle des solutions envisageables.
