Prepare professionals in the field of industrial and urban environment and risk.

The Science for Industrial and Urban Environment prepare for the jobs of public and private research in the field of environment. It proposes a systemic approach of environmental problems, including environmental assessment, pollutant emission and dispersion, prevention and treatment of liquid and solid wastes. It prepares for careers in public or private research units, companies, engineering offices, services providers, local authorities.

 

Prior successful completion of a first year of a Master’s Degree in theoretical and / or applied science, or equivalent diploma (at the home university or Ecole des Mines) /or 240 ECTS validated

Level B1 (CEFRL-Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in French language is required for students joining graduate engineering programs and Masters of Science taught in French.

A good command of English is mandatory for all programs specifically the Masters taught in English.

Course structure

  • Analysis and management of risk [natural and technological risk; integrated environmental assessment](6 ECTS credits)
  • Pollutant emissions and dispersion [biophysicochemical mechanisms and transfer modelisation] ](6 ECTS credits)
  • Environmental Risk [(human health and ecological) chronical risk] (3 ECTS credits)
  • Preventive and curative ecotechnology (3 ECTS credits)
  • Quality, security and environmental management (3 ECTS credits)
  • Conferences and supervised projects (6 ECTS credits)
  • English courses (3 ECTS credits)
  • Research internship (5 months) (30 ECTS credits)

Internships exemples

  • Flooding natural-technological accidents: analysis of industrial cases
  • Mathematical model to estimate local building energy consumption

Most of the SEIU courses are in french.
